Most of the conditions that negatively affect your smile can be avoided with regular care. Your team at Dr. Boyte’s Dental office is committed to answering your questions about proper hygiene and to providing you with the most advanced preventative dentistry.
Periodontal dentistry is the caring of the gum and bone structures that support your teeth. Without a healthy foundation, your ability to keep your teeth throughout your lifetime could be at risk. Ironically, this branch of dentistry is the least recognized, and despite its importance, many of us unknowingly neglect our gums, which can result in infection and disease.
You can ensure the health of your gums and supportive structures at Brenda L. Boyte Dentistry. Your access to our advanced periodontal therapy programs is key to the restoration of your gums and to the prevention of future problems.
Damage to the nerve tissue inside of a tooth sometimes requires a root canal procedure. Dr. Boyte takes advantage of advances in technology and dental techniques that make root canal procedures more effective, while also taking less time.
A root canal involves removing the soft tissue within the tooth (the pulp) when it has become infected and inflamed. Dr. Boyte gently files the infected tissue out of the root canals of the tooth (this is where the procedure gets its name) and fills the void with an inert material. The procedure is completed with the placement of a filling or, in many cases, a crown.
Sometimes damage to a tooth makes extraction the most appropriate treatment for getting you back to optimal health. We can perform the procedure right here at Brenda L. Boyte Dentistry, rather than having to refer you to another provider, and we can discuss further treatment options for completing your smile.
When decay and bacteria are removed from a cavity, the area is then filled with a material that will seal and protect the structure of your tooth. With this procedure, your dentist helps minimize your risk for further decay.
ORAL CANCER SCREENINGS
As a comprehensive dental practice, Brenda L. Boyte Dentistry offers routine oral cancer screenings to you. As your dentist, Dr. Baird is the only medical professional in a position to routinely evaluate and to detect abnormalities early. Brenda L. Boyte Dentistry is dedicated to providing this potentially life-saving procedure for you.
Many people who notice chipped or cracked teeth, but don’t remember when the injury occurred, damaged their teeth while they were sleeping. Grinding or clenching your teeth during the night will cause your teeth to chip, crack, and even break. To keep you from seriously damaging your teeth, we recommend a dental appliance called a nightguard. A custom fitted nightguard protects your teeth from grinding and clenching in your sleep. Dr. Baird takes great care in making sure you have a proper fit to prevent pain in your jaw joint. Do you suffer from headaches? If so, you may find that a side benefit of your nightguard is headache prevention. Many headaches start during the night, caused by the extreme pressure generated as you grind and clench your teeth. Ask our team about having a nightguard custom created just for you.
